Dean Sawatzky is a lifelong multi-instrumentalist with a unique approach that blends folk, country, Americana, rock, and blues. His songs span various topics, such as facing obstacles, mortality, social justice, love, and loss. Dean has received recognition for his songwriting skills, including winning a CBC Radio contest and a perfect score from the Songwriters Association of Canada. He has also worked with renowned songwriters, such as Deborah Holland, and performed with a songwriting collective called the Holland Sessions. Dean is an active member of the songwriting community in Vancouver and has been invited to perform by the Vancouver Folk Song Society. He has had original songs performed across Canada, including at Vancouver's Expo 86. He is part of the international songwriting community through SongTown USA, New England to Nashville, the Americana Music Association, and the Martha's Vineyard Songwriting Festival.
