What I’m up to now

Q1 2023

  • Reading

Well, I just put down a couple books as I’m consumed with The Body Keeps Score by Bessel van der Kolk.. an amazing book and highly recommend so far: Growth of the Soil by Norwegian Author Knut Hamsun. Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer are still on the bedside table!

  • Moving

Swimming training which has been such a big part of the last few years has been hampered due to my lack sleep lately. Getting back in the pool in March! Slowly returning to Water Polo as well. Strength training has been most consistent- 2x a week at IF. Ski Season is well underway - have 12 days in already, hoping for 10 more!

  • Feeling

The death of my father in January has set a sombre tone for the year so far. So it is a balance between mourning and celebrating his life with gratitude. It’s really knocked my sleep schedule off, but that’s slowly coming back. Therapy has been an important part of processing this and regaining health and wellbeing.

  • Watching

Limitless: Chris Hemsworth on Disney+ a lot to dig into as I work at regaining my stregnth and fitness in Mid-life. Huberman Labs continues to deliver as well. The recent episode with Peter Attia really hit home. Particularly near the end when he speaks of emotional health. Peter’s new book is on my reading list for when it comes out.

  • Writing

Working on my book - which is loosely a Gen-Xer’s experience dealing with an aging parent. May just be a therapy book for me - but who knows. I’m about 30,000 words in. My Songwriting output has slowed, but working on a few new ideas!

  • Pondering
